Music Heals the Soul

A good friend of mine once said, on a late night walk back home...

"I believe the voice is a unique and innate human quality that connects our spirit directly to the Creator ((God))"

I have to say, I couldn't agree more. There is something absolutely stunning about the human voice and the very essence of the music we create that just simply seems out of this world.

......and I really believe that these soulful sounds & expressions deeply connect us with our divine roots, as well.

It is not only true that singing and listening to music can beautifully lift one's spirits, but there is something simply breathtaking and nurturing about the experience. Music is therapeutic and has the power to heal. Why? Well because we are releasing our troubles and allowing this energy to transform into a wonderfully new & positive healing force. Almost as if a life-altering evolution occurs, deep within the soul, which then engages our earth-shattering potential to rise above the smallest or worst of tragedies.

Songs are powerful! and I find that this healing transition and evolution of the soul can be closely compared to something like a caterpillar's metamorphosis

....as it transforms into the amazingly free & captivating beauty of a butterfly.

As I took a journey this morning to the studio where I will begin holding my first yoga classes, I took some time quietly admiring the dance room with hard wood floors. And then right there, with no one around, I plugged in my music and allowed the sounds to fill the space around me. Instinctively I began flowing, dancing, and singing to myself in the small enclosed studio. The experience was magical and the acoustics of the room was bewildering! *Absolutely Positively Phenomenal*

May you all dance to the rhythm of life. Always, as if no one is watching!

A Yogi Evolves

My very first life breath was experienced on a Tuesday.

Today is yet another Tuesday, almost 25 years from whence I began my journey.

But Today, this Tuesday, September 7, 2010 represents a new stage of my immersion into the culture, philosophy, and dedicated practice of Yoga.

I would like to announce & share with you my transformation from student to teacher. I will still be and continue to learn & play with each new day. My belief is that we are all students of this life and the learning process never ends. As humans we are constantly evolving and adapting. "Once a student always a student."

These next few months I merely will be tapping into the inner teacher that has always been with me.

Please join and witness a Yogi evolve as I begin my path as a guide to full wellness with the turn of a new season. October 1st, marks the start of my Hatha training and lessons.

I am honored to have you all be a part of this very sacred and life changing phase in my life.

Namaste,

Nicolasana

Be Present, Be Alive!

Conscious breathing, which is a powerful meditation in its own right, will gradually put you in touch with the body.... As soon as your habitual state changes from being out of the body and trapped in your mind, to being in the body and present in the NOW, your physical body will feel lighter, clearer, more alive.

                                                       -Eckhart Tolle-

Well, I hope that quote brought your attention to this moment. The breath empowers the mind body connection and establishes are presence in the present. Which is really all there is ...

So be here now & savor the life you are living!

Yours in Well being,

Nicolasana

P.S. Coming soon: Research studies on Modern Medicine transformations. Particularly, recent changes concerning present and past concepts of Mind-Body connection. Which up until now, is challenging the notions of the Cartesian Principle and shaking the foundation of Western Medicine.

Radio Dreams

Hi all,

...anyone

Haha, well nonetheless I continue to write. I suppose there is something therapeutic about it, right? In fact some of my most inquisitive thoughts have come from journaling, so there must be something of value here. Perhaps, I might even open up my dusty old friend and share some of my personal literature.

But only for those who wait...will patience be rewarded, or something along those lines ;)

So Radio Dreams;

If there is something interesting to be unveiled about our minds, it must be the brains' fascinating ability to pick up subtle cues and interact with them in the unconscious state. Our dreams.

There is more to our minds than we know. Or can even imagine. I am sure of it.

So much capability is waiting to be unlocked.

...and will we ever be able to witness the full potential of the mind?

I suppose with experience we shall know.

Well, today or tonight I just wanted to say that I had a funny dream again. Where instead of waking up to my radio alarm at 5:30 am, my brain and hence my dream switched its attention to the radio talk.

It was interesting how quickly my mind created it's own subplot based around the political discussion that was tunneling through to my subconscious state.

Yes, quite odd but this has happened to me before. Just a curious event is all. However, it seems that my mind is making a habit of this or just too darn tired to get me up so it tricks me into a dream state to keep me at bay. hehe silly, smart brain of mine.

It's amazing how our mind and body immediately adjusts itself in favor of our health & healing. I am sure that the extra half hour of sleep did me some good or at the very least, left me with a political & initiative start to my day.

Speaking of radios, I have to say I love it when the timing is impeccable. Like when my favorite song starts playing, as if on cue & completely coincidentally, at the same time my alarm was set or when I get in my car and turn on the engine.

It's a beautiful, sweet serendipity moment that makes you feel like the universe is looking after you.      ***   Awww. Simply amazing! See heaven is on earth.

haha Ok. Over & out.

Peace & love,

Life is Stranger than Fiction

"As Harold took a bite of a Bavarian sugar cookie, he finally felt as if everything was going to be ok. Sometimes, when we lose ourselves in fear and despair, in routine and constancy, in hopelessness and tragedy, we can thank God for Bavarian sugar cookies. And, fortunately, when there aren't any cookies, we can still find reassurance in a familiar hand on our skin, or a kind and loving gesture, or subtle encouragement, or a loving embrace..."

This passage really hit the spot for me about life's little miracles and joys. It is so easy to get trapped in daily routine and forget that life is truly about living out every ounce we have in us. To be the person we all want to be before our metaphorical time clock has stopped and our last breath has left us.

I more often than not find excuses not to waste my "time" watching mindless movies. Which for the most part tends to be the healthiest choice for me. Yet, every once in a while a meaningful movie comes along my way that teaches me something new. I especially cherish those films that cause one to ponder about life's idiosyncrasies or perhaps ignites some fresh perspectives about our journeys here.

Anyhow, I thought yesterdays' movie night was well worth the 113 minutes and wanted to share this lovely quote with you from the 2006 flick "Stranger than Fiction." If you haven't seen it, it is a very touching movie and should definitely be watched with family and/or friends alike.

That & cookies are amazing aren't they. One of life's little pleasures that can quickly bring a smile to our faces :)

"Herehave a cookie. I promise, by the time you get done eating it, you'll feel right as rain"

hah, also one of my favorite cookies quotes. Think you can guess where it's from ;)

Stay Sweet,

A New Beginning

Hello & Welcome,

Today I would like to honor the beauty of change and all it has to offer!

This morning I woke up to greet the rising sun. I joined a friend for a 6am run and attended to my yoga practice before the rest of my day commenced. However, upon reflection of this past week I have noticed one underlying theme that rings true for much of our population: people don't like change.

This whole idea seemed strange to me, since over many generations the human species has widely been recognized for its amazing capacity to change and transform their way of living. If we look around us, we can quickly see that we have evolved much more and faster than any other of our living counterparts on earth. I believe the difficulty we have accepting change is mainly due to a resistance of the mind. In a sense, we have become accustomed to our fruitful way of living.

With the advent of a new day before us, we must be ready to meet the challenges that daily change brings. There are many twists and turns the day can take and with each passing day shapes more beautiful experiences ahead. We can only discover this positive new light & all its power if we can find within ourselves the ability to embrace these myriad of possibilities.

There are little gifts of peace and love with us everyday if we just remember to look. As such, I believe even the wildlife and nature that we live among is begging for our attention. If we spend time with ourselves and make the effort to go back to our early human roots...our basic survival needs bring us back to the real value of our lives. In this way, we become more in tune with nature and the instincts which help us to adapt to the changing seasons.

"The start of each journey begins with the first step. So let us begin." - Lao Tzu

May these words leave you inspired to take on a new beginning, wherever in life that may be.

Yours Truly,

Nicole Varga (NV)
